However, you might be facing a major challenge: obtaining good gear through dungeons and other means is difficult, and the price of good gear among players is rising daily. But don’t worry, because we can craft our own gear.
Don’t worry, it sounds difficult, but it’s actually super simple. Below, IGGM will guide you step-by-step through crafting your own ultimate gear.
Preliminary Preparations
Our goal is to craft a Rare piece of gear with full affixes. Before we begin, we need to prepare some useful materials, such as Currency and Base.
Currency
First, you need to prepare some Currency. In PoE 2 Return of the Ancients, the following Currencies are essential for crafting gear:

Orb of Transmutation: This Currency adds one affix to gear and transforms Normal gear into Magic gear.

Orb of Augmentation: This curse adds one affix to a Magic item.

Regal Orb: This curse is crucial for upgrading equipment from Magic to Rare. It can upgrade a Magic item to Rare and add one affix.

Orb of Alchemy: This curse can directly convert a Normal item into a Rare item. This is key to obtaining Rare equipment.

Essence: Guarantees a specific type of affix.

Exalted Orb: Adds one random new affix to a Rare item. This is one of the rarest currencies in late-game crafting, as an item can only have a maximum of six affixes, often requiring several Exalted Orbs to fill.

Fracturing Orb: This is an extremely rare currency. Its effect is to lock a desired affix; once locked, this affix can never be modified by any other currency.
Crafting equipment requires a certain amount of luck, so you need to prepare a large amount of currency beforehand. In PoE 2 Patch 0.5.0 Return of the Ancients, some currencies – such as Fracturing Orbs – are difficult to obtain, requiring a significant investment of time and effort.

Base
In PoE 2 Patch 0.5.0 Return of the Ancients, all crafting starts with a Base. You should choose Bases with the highest possible item level. Why? Because the item level determines Tier of the strongest affixes your gear might have.
For example, a Tier 1 affix like “Increased Physical Damage” requires an item level of 82 or higher to appear. If your base item level is only 75, you’ll never achieve that top-tier stat. Therefore, a high-item-level base item is the foundation of all powerful gear.
Crafting Process
Next, IGGM will formally introduce the crafting process, which mainly consists of three steps:
Step 1: Crafting Rare Gear with Affixes
First, you need to collect a bunch of your Base items and use Orb of Transmutation on each of them one by one. This will give you a batch of Magic gear with one affix.
From these Magic gear items, find the affix you need (such as Increase Physical Damage), and then use Orb of Augmentation on it to add a second random affix. You can keep refreshing until you get the affix you want. At this point, you have a Magic gear with two useful affixes.
Then use Regal Orb on it, and it will become a Rare gear with three affixes, two of which are the ones you want, and one is randomly added. This completes Step 1.
Step 2: Adding Affixes to Gear
Now you have a Rare gear with three affixes. Our goal is to turn it into a Rare item with 6 affixes.
You simply need to keep using Exalted Orb; each use will randomly add a new Affix to gear.
Step 3: Adjusting Affixes on Gear
Next, you need to adjust the affixes on the gear until they meet your expectations.
Before adjusting, you can use Fracturing Orb to lock affixes you want to prevent them from being destroyed during the adjustment process.
Next, if you want to add a specific type of affix to the gear more precisely, that’s where Essence comes in. As mentioned above, Essence can directly give you a specific type of affix.
Meanwhile, you can continue to adjust your Affixes using the other Currencies mentioned above until you achieve the attributes and direction you desire – this also depends on how much POE2 currency you have prepared beforehand.
Finally, when all the other affixes on your gear are perfect, but there’s that one “junk” affix that you just can’t get rid of, that’s when you need Omens.
In PoE 2, Omens are a special consumable that can change the effects of other currencies. For example, it can ensure Orb of Annulment removes which affix, allowing you to precisely “cut off” that bad affix.
Through these three steps, you can create your own powerful gear.
